Well, here’s one advantage of using the .info domain extension..

I just placed a site on my www.portablemp3players.info domain a bit less than a week now (Dec 21st) and it’s already showing at #1 position on MSN for “portable mp3 players info” (portable mp3 players resources too!)… not bad, I’d say!

Gonna make this short today!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Look What Dave Found: If In Doubt – Check It Out, eBay/PayPal/StormPay Rant
December 15, 2005, 12:07 am
Been a bad couple days…

First, I had a problem on eBay that I have to dispute (involves a non-paying bidder and $100+ in fv fees).. I wrote their billing two days ago and still no answer.

Now, I log onto Paypal to find I’d been charged a second time ($97) for something I bought and paid for via StormPay on the 5th! So, I go to send PayPal an email via their contact form and it keeps giving me a blank page after I submit..

I’m beginning to wonder if this isn’t how eBay/PayPal picks up some loose Holiday change…

Not to mention I am so fed up with all the spam auctions on eBay these days anyway, sellers have to compete with cross-posted auctions for Genuine Tummy Twiddlers and buyers have to wade thru all that junk looking for a “real” item to bid on!

If In Doubt – Check It Out…

Awhile back I mentioned on the forums I frequent having a strange mark on the side of my face that I later assumed was from my eye glass frames… well, I was wrong…

I went to the doctor’s today for my cold and prescriptions.. and the first thing he mentioned was a different mark (that I didn’t know about) on the other side of my face AND that one.. turns out they were both pre-cancerous lesions and he removed them both there at the office.

Actinic Karatosis

Guess that goes to show.. when in doubt, check it out!

Have a good one! Be safe!

Look What Dave Found: Earn Revenue From Unpaid Adsense?
December 13, 2005, 4:43 am

I just ran across this service, wondered if anyone here had heard of it or used it:

If you use Google’s AdSense program to earn money from your website, now you can increase the amount of revenue you make automatically.

Most online ad programs, including Google, will sometimes show default ads, or public service announcements (PSAs) when they have no paying ads to show. This can happen for many reasons, especially when their ad code crawls your pages.

AlternateURL lets you replace those ads with paying ads. You could be wasting a lot of adviews — and losing a lot of money — by not replacing AdSense PSA ads.

By using an AlternateURL you’ll make money on all your traffic. All you need to do is use the URL we provide to replace the default or PSA ads.

http://www.alternateurl.com

Sounds good.. anyone know if Google prohibits this sort of thing?

Hey, I found this post on webloggers.org:

“Two days ago, I wrote “Chitika CPMs Dropping Again!” Which described how many publishers were seeing much lower CPMs with eMiniMalls starting on Dec 1st. I received an email from Venkat Kolluri, CEO of Chitika explaining what has happened.

The entire email conversation is posted here.”.

On the face of it, looks like (to me) Chitika is just doing what they said, streamlining the reporting process.. guess we’ll see if it amounts to something else or not.. in the meantime, hey, you’ve been warned and thanks to Randy Morin for the original post!

Music to my ears…

If you haven’t yet been introduced to Pandora.com, please leave immediately and give it a visit. Simply put, Pandora lets you customize and create your own music streams according to your particular tastes. Simply input your favorite artist or song title and Pandora will select and play musically similar music for you free (ad supported) or as a paid (reasonable) option. Everyone I know raves about their service.. no go, what are you waiting for?

Look What Dave Found: The Christmas Spirit, She Believes In Santa Now
December 8, 2005, 6:35 am

I was just talking to a friend of mine (Tanya) in New Brunswick, Canada and told her about the Letter From Santa script I have installed on my website.

I told her she needed to send one to her 7 year old daughter, Cate.

I explained it’s all done by email and it’s a cute gimmick, complete with animation and music. What’s more, it’s personalized with your child’s name, age, hometown, friend’s name, etc.

“I just told her yesterday there’s no such thing as Santa!”, she replied…

I growled, “Send her one anyway, she’ll love it (and you for it)!”

So Tanya sent her daughter Cate a personalized Santa letter using this way cool Christmas script.. and came back on Messenger laughing!

“I printed it out and Cate loved it!”, she said, “She was so excited it contained her best friend’s name, she took it to bed with her and plans to show everyone tomorrow!”

That made me feel good.. knowing I’d brightened the life of a child! And the best part is, this script can easily be customized for birthdays, Easter, sales letters, joke pages, you name it! I’m going to have a ball with it!

Ho-Ho-Ho!
