Look What Dave Found: FlipBook Printer

Flipbook Printer is a program that lets you make your own printed “Flipbooks” from avi movie files using business cards.

A gift from DonationCoder.com especially for the holidays, and especially for the young at heart.

Makes a great present – have the kids send a flipbook of them waving hello to the grandparents, or send your loved one a movie of you smiling or blowing them a kiss. It’s the ultimate in low-tech movie making!

Here’s another nice application from DonationCoder:

Screenshot Captor is a program for taking screenshots on your computer. It’s different from other screenshot utilities in several notable ways:

  • Optimized for taking lots of screenshots with minimal intervention.
  • Smart autonaming of files, and ability to embed textual comments in files.
  • Good multi-monitor support.
  • Highly configurable to make it work the way you want it to; stays out of your way in the system tray.
  • Lots of capture modes: Mutlimon, Desktop, Active Window, Region, Windows Object. Each mode has a hotkey for quick access.
  • Unique Cool Effects, including automatic active window enhancement (see pictures below).
  • Unsurpassed support for 3rd party user configurable tools, including file browsers and image editors; extend the program to do whatever you need by interfacing it with other programs.
  • Slimline sidebar file browser provides full shell operations.
  • Optional automatic image file versioning.
  • Seamless integration with Unicode Image Maker tool.

Look What Dave Found: I Bought It On eBay!

Actually this won’t amount to much of a post because I’m running a little behind! It’s late and I should be heading for bed as I have to work at “my real job” tomorrow, ugh!

Anyway, I’m a sucker when it comes to new software on eBay “with resale (resell, master) rights included” and things of that nature. Usually I’ll find something interesting, purchase it, try it briefly, then offer it to members of the various forums I frequent to recover my investment.

The problem is: 99% of that stuff really “sucks”…yeah, it’s either buggy, or it diesn’t deliver, or it’s old and outdated.. well, you get the picture.

Case in point: you may have seen the Article Directory Script advertised on eBay. For awhile, they were selling like virtual hotcakes. You know what? That script was full of bugs.. and, even though there has since been an updated version of the script, most of the copies still being sold on eBay are the older, buggy version.

The fact is, most of these items trickle down to places like eBay after they’ve already been offered and sold through various salespages for vastly greater sums of money (can you say, $147, $197, or $297?)…

Well, anyway, over the next several posts at least, I plan to review some of the stuff I’ve bought off eBay and kinda rate it’s usability vs price.

First up, I’ll review the Article Directory Script and we’ll see where that goes.. take care!

Look What Dave Found: Underground Ozarks, WeBloggers.org

I have a soft spot for interesting websites and blogs and more so when I find they hit on a subject close to home. So it is with the Underground Ozarks website (and blog) when I ran across their report on a trip they’d made exploring an underground “lake in Carthage, Missouri (where I just happen to hail from). Amazingly, though I knew the area is peppered with abandoned mines and such, I have no idea where this particular location is but the blog entries (and video) are pretty dang interesting! Have a look: BLOG

Speaking of blogging, Keith Klein heads up an awesome blog-related discussion forum over at WeBloggers.org. It’s full of just the kind of stuff bloggers (and blog readers) would be interested in and lots of it!

Domain Name Speculation: Now There’s An Interesting Subject…

I’ve been a member of NamePros.com for a little over a year now with over 6500 posts to the forum and voted Member of the Month twice… so, I’m gonna take a sec to plug the forum and encourage you to head on over and join up if you have an interest in domain names and related subjects. Ron James is the head honcho. There’s an excellent and helpful buncha forum leaders and moderators with over 23,000 members!

Well, that’s it for now.. more later!

Quality Scripts and Flash Utilities for $5?

If you’re looking for quality inexpensive scripts and applets, let me suggest you check out Darren’s $5 Script Archive , home to some of the best applications you’ll find anywhere. Choose from flash applets, advanced chat systems, photo galleries, tickers, timers, and much more! Don’t let the $5 price fool you either.. these utilities are rock-solid with free updates and unlimited user to user support. I personally own and use many of these on my own websites and highly recommend them.

404 Reasearch Lab…

Often I’ll run across an amusing or just plain weird custom 404 page that’ll make me smile or take notice in some way. If you’re slightly off-kilter or just plain bored, you might also enjoy taking a look at some of the 404 pages indexed here at the 404 Research Lab .

Best Jokes…

You won’t find the most jokes here as the site’s just getting started, but there are presently over 600 jokes in the database at BestJokes with more to come. Need a laugh or giggle? Be sure to take a break and head on over for a look-see!

Qumana Blog Editor

By the way, this is being posted using the new Qumana blog editor .

Qumana is probably one of the easiest, if not the easiest, way to update your blog, whether you have 1 or 100.

Qumana works with all major blog hosts, including:

  • Blogger
  • TypePad
  • Moveable Type
  • Blogware
  • WordPress
  • many more…

But my favorite feature is Qumana’s ability to integrate the new AdGenta ads directly into your blog post and add Technorati tags as well.

Adgenta ads compare favorably to Google’s Adsense, pay out at only $20 via PayPal, and allow you to choose the keywords used to display the ad within your posts!

Free Magazine Subscriptions?

I currently receive about 30 different magazine titles each month free from various online promotions. One of the best places I’ve found for free magazine subscription info is SlickDeals.. browse through the freebies section in the forum there.. they have an astounding number of daily posts and a special section devoted to magazines. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the site!
